Superbowl Sunday

I am glad I didn't sell a bunch of those pizzas that we made last Thursday. The veggie one we ate had a slightly better cardboard crust than last year's, but it wasn't great. However, football fans might not have noticed too much if they were rooting for the underdogs. Yay, the New Orleans Saints won! I love it when the underdogs win. No, I did not watch the whole game. I watched very little of the game, but I did watch The Who at halftime, feeling very old. Was those old men really Pete Townshend? Roger Daltry? What? ... Next year, whatever geriatric rock band they sign will probably perform the show while sitting on their rolling walkers! Wouldn't that be a hoot! After all, they are just playing to their demographic: Aging baby boomers who can afford tickets to the game.

I just finished paying most of my bills, and there's more left over than I expected. When that happens it makes me go Hmmmm. Perhaps I had better recheck my calculations - make sure I'm not one (or two) hundred dollars off. I know I've been living fairly frugally lately, but... one can't be too sure. So it'll be back to the calculator for me tonight. Or tomorrow.

I want to start crocheting something other than hats and scarves because I don't so much wear hats or scarves. I will put a beanie or a beret on when it's really cold outside (or when my feet are cold inside, for that matter - don't laugh, it works!), but unless it's snowing I don't bother with a scarf. I can't walk in the snow anymore (wah, sniff sniff, poor me), so I don't get out in it anymore. I can only enjoy it from inside the window, so what do I need scarves for?

Now, I like a little whimsy, and have found a pattern for little hearts, and I think a garland of hearts might be nice draped around the head of the bed or the mirror on the dressing table. Too cutesy? Perhaps. I'll have to think about it. But when I do make it to Michael's or JoAnn's to get yarn, I'm going to buy some in reds and pinks and berries. I also need some baby yarn for booties and binkies and bonnets, oh my. And some E-F-G crochet hooks. [I knew I should have bought the big package of hooks in the first place. Hindsight? 20-20. My sight? Nearly blind.]

Downloading digital books from the library is the best thing ever. By Summer I will have to get an MP3 player so I won't have to drag the laptop outside, which is a PITA for me. Which is to say, even though it's light, my balance is so poor, I don't dare carry it out. An MP3 I could handle, along with a crochet hook and a ball of yarn. Perhaps this summer, I will be multitasking on the patio, while drinking a smoothie or a latte. We'll see.

That's all I have for you tonight.

Good Night, TTYL, and Be Well

  1. We watched the game at our friends house. I feel asleep on the couch and woke up muttering something about who is killing Pin Ball Wizard.

I looked up at the TV and felt suddenly very old LOL.

Stayed awake for the rest of the game and YEAH Saints! I like when the underdogs win too - unless they are playing against my team.
