Yesterday was the first day of Autumn, and a very fine first day it was. In my neighborhood it was 76 degrees with a slight breeze that had that "Fall crispness" to it; and it was slightly humid, so it was quite comfortable for a stroll in the neighborhood. This time I decided to go all the way to the Starbuck's on 56th. Knowing that a curb cut on one end of a block does not mean there is another curb cut at the opposite end, I tended to stay in the street. There's not a lot of traffic, so I felt safe. Still, one driver stopped and commented, "You sure are brave!" "What do you mean?" I replied. "You should get a flag or something... so drivers will see you." "But you saw me, right?"
