Finally, another scooter outing
Yesterday was the first day of Autumn, and a very fine first day it was. In my neighborhood it was 76 degrees with a slight breeze that had that "Fall crispness" to it; and it was slightly humid, so it was quite comfortable for a stroll in the neighborhood.
This time I decided to go all the way to the Starbuck's on 56th. Knowing that a curb cut on one end of a block does not mean there is another curb cut at the opposite end, I tended to stay in the street. There's not a lot of traffic, so I felt safe. Still, one driver stopped and commented, "You sure are brave!" "What do you mean?" I replied. "You should get a flag or something... so drivers will see you." "But you saw me, right?" "Yeah, but you're lower than all the cars." We laughed, and I assured her I would be careful, and continued on my way.
It took me about ten minutes to get there, and yes, the Starbuck's is accessible, if you consider pulling open a big door from a scooter accessible. It wasn't even heavy, but the Barista was there in a flash to hold it for me, so not a problem at all. I had a grande Pumpkin Spice Latte and some dark chocolate grahams and it cost over $6! Note to self: pay attention to the prices, and smaller is just as good.
I also discovered that next to the Starbuck's, around the corner on South Tacoma Way is a small deli; I asked a guy who was just leaving if this was the place that had good Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches, and he said he hadn't tried one of their's, but that they had great burgers. Then as I continued on, I notices that across the street at 58th (where there's a light) is Philly Joe's - the place I have heard about. I suppose you can see where I am going with this --- another outing destination on the next nice Fall day (that I have a few bucks to spend).
Living on a shoestring is not fun. It's a challenge.
I made chai today. It's yummy, as usual. I think it's best not to make it too often lest I get tired of it. This time I added a chunk of fresh ginger to it, and it has a slight bite - though more would have been better, I think. Also, I skimped on the sugar - but that's okay, 'cuz you can always add more, but you can't take it away.
I'm thinking I would like to have a HoverRound when the time comes. I find that it's hard to maneuver the scooter in tight quarters. I have to pull a three point turn just to turn around. It can be a real pain in the ass. The tiller in front bumps into my knees when I need to make a sharp turn; Just sayin', not complainin'.
Okay, that's it for today.
Good Night, TTYL and Be Well,
