Think SNOW for B.C.

Image
I know there are many in the D.C. area, and other parts of the east coast who have had it up to here with snow, but here in the Pacific Northwest and the Pacific Southwest of Canada, we are experiencing the lovely effects of what the weather 'casters call El Nino . El Nino is a phenomenon characterized by unusual warming of the Pacific equatorial waters. This warming influences the weather on the West coast of North America - including more rain in Southern California (thus the mudslides), more warm rain in my area (thus the need for umbrellas or hoods but so far no flooding), and less snow in the mountains (thus more headaches for the Olympics Committee). There have been plans made in British Columbia to line some ski slopes with hay bales then top them off with trucked in snow. Who could have predicted this when the bid was put in? For the last few years we have been having record snow levels in the mountains. It would have been perfect for the Olympic skiing and sledding events...
