I was reminded today by Herrad that I forgot to pick up an award over at Access Denied. I did pick it up, Sweetie. It's right over there ------->

I said in my post that my cath change was today, but I was writing at 2 AM, so what I really meant was later yesterday. It seems there has been a staff shake-up in the office, and old rules are being enforced more diligently. For instance, the new nurse (a guy) can't work with a woman unless there is another woman in the exam room. When I asked if it would be okay if my husband just sat in, he said yes he could, but they still needed an "impartial" woman as a witness should anything untoward happen. So, enter the new office scheduler to witness me sitting there partially disrobed. Clearly she was uncomfortable. I really didn't care one way or another. I did have to drop my drawers; I didn't have to spread my legs, you know? Just let the new guy do his job (he was very proficient BTW), and leave the scheduler out of it. So that went well, and no infection, so the antibiotics I used last month did the trick. Enough said about that.

After that we went across the street to pick up this month's BellyBags and gauze sponges. then DH drove me to the pharmacy where I picked up my Valium. The day before I ordered my refills through my mail-order pharmacy, and as we were going through the list at checkout, there was a $2.50 co-pay for each which I don't have to pay at our pharmacy (because I have a medical coupon) until we got to the diazepam when she said $42.50. "Uh, let's cancel that one" I told her, "I'll pick it up at the store for free." Yes, Valium is a tier 3 drug - so I will still choose to pick it up each month myself. All the others will be delivered to my door as a 90-day supply. Yippee.

Next, I realized that I hadn't had anything to eat and had a gassy tummy from drinking a lot of water before my appointment. I mentioned this to DH, and followed it with a belch for emphasis, and talked him into going to The Green Spot for a cup of coffee and a Biscotti. It was on the way, but he complained that "It costs too much to go out like this" and "We really can't afford to do this" and I told him to shut up and just park the car. So we went in and had a sample of Ginseng tea (after all, this is a tea spot) which was quite tasty, but I am an avowed coffee lover, so that is what we had along with two scones. Two cups each. Total bill, including a 20% tip: $8. Even I can afford that. Once in awhile.

Then we went to Trader Joe's to get . . . you know . . . what did I get? I know you know the answer. Dig real deep . . . you almost have it . . . You're right!! COFFEE, and some frozen dinners, and some vitamin D, and I forget what else.

Now I will try to post several things that make me happy.

1. That TV commercial where the cat puts up a sign 'Me Needy Good Nose - Help Wanted'. It an ad for Fresh Step litter and the cat can't find its litter box, so a bloodhound comes over and tries to find it with him. Cracks. Me. Up. Every time.
2. Chocolate Mousse made from the recipe I got from the Food of the World cookbook series: the Cooking of Provincial France. It takes a little effort to make it - but there is NO COMPARISON to any other mousse I have ever tried. Shortcuts are not worth it after you have tried this stuff.
3. My husband, of course. And he will wonder why he comes in at #3. (no reason)
4. A lovely sunset, watched to twilight.
5. My kitties, especially when they're cuddled and purring in my lap.
6. Reading outside on the patio in the Summer on a nice day.
7. Laughing with friends.
8. Feeling a connection with people on the internet, via the blog world.
9. Going out to eat, especially when someone else is paying (wink wink).
10. The newly discovered digital books at the library. Downloads are free - and they just expire when they are due!

And now to the title of this entry: Facebook. I have joined. I have found a few people on there tonight, actually. The thing is: What's the point? I found an old neighbor who I used to babysit for, and her son, and her brother-in-law whom I used to play with. HE accepted when I 'friended' him, but hasn't replied to a single thing I've said. What's up with that? Tonight someone from my HS friended me, but I don't remember her at all. Someone else popped up and asked me if I was the same person who used to hang out with ****, but I don't know who she is! Later, ****'s sister friends me, but doesn't write anything. Then I look around, and the lady who knew me from HS knows the lady who knows **** who knows the lady I babysat for. And out of these four, I have only conversed with one of them, and have no idea who the others are. It is very odd.

I get little notes from my nephew, and lots of pillows thrown at me, and lots of food requests, and lots of farm animals for sale, and I really don't have time for all of that. Aargh! I guess I will just be a rude SOB and only reply to those who type English at me. Oh, and I lost out at a chance to adopt a two year old black lab mix, who would have come complete with a crate and a doghouse and toys. This was from the kid I babysat, but he found a place for her. Oh well. I just don't understand these social networking sites. I'm getting old.

Good night, TTYL and Be Well,

  2. Coffee always wins out here!!

Dr's office rules I feel for the office scheduler - bet she did not sign up for that one LOL

Facebook - I signed up awhile ago. I have two accounts - oh gasp - one under my given name and one under kmilyun.

While I have connected with some old high school friends it mostly has been a time waster.

I never could find my way to the forums or where ever everyone was conversing. Nor, can I deal with all the request to play a game, pie in the face, hugs, etc. .

Maybe you are correct and I am just to dang old to get it. It frustrates me so I avoid signing in :)

  3. I use Facebook just to keep up with family. Most of my friends I already talk to. Just another venue to promote my blogs. I guess it may be good for promoting a business. I spent the day stocking up for yet another storm on the east coast!
