Playing catch-up
Tuesday, the usuals and I went to lunch at the Chambers Bay Grill. I had a yummy grilled chicken sandwich on a Kaiser roll with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, avocado and bacon. It was served with sweet potato fries which are delicious, and I had an "Arnold Palmer," which is an iced tea topped off with lemonade. Refreshing.
I was late. It seems I'm always arriving late these days. I'm just not used to how much extra time it's taking me to get ready to leave the house! I can't tell if it's just me in the mornings, or the MS being slightly more problematic, or that I tend to dawdle more than I should. Maybe it's a combination of the three, but I'm getting a reputation!
I was planning on skipping the sorority summer BBQ this Saturday, but we talked about it amongst ourselves at the table and I was offered a ride by our Chapter president, who is also bringing someone else. I'll let her know by Friday. Lynn is supposed to come tomorrow for a visit of several days - I don't know how many - but if she's here on Saturday I imagine she would like to go to the BBQ with me. That would be fun.
I hope to at least get started packing some books tomorrow and Thursday - then maybe taking them to Crown books to see if they will buy them. I imagine they are inundated with people doing this in these economic times, but we can give it a try. I'd also like Lynn to help me make a return to Sears of some Land's End purchases that didn't work out (because I already bought some more sale items to replace them!), and also some vacuum cleaner bags.
I am getting used to my new mattress. It really is firm. By firm I mean Hard, but I think it is good for helping me to move around on it easily. I tried some of the really comfy mattresses at IKEA, and I couldn't move at all on some of them! [Think sinking into a TemperPedic] They were comfy, though. Alas - mine is okay in the comfort area, and functional for my limitations. Gotta have priorities, you know?
It is actually firm enough that I can sit up and read with my backrest, which I have covered about 90% of the way with the second pillowcase that's the same colors as the duvet cover. I am going to ask the person riding to the BBQ with us if she can sew a removable cover for it for me once I buy another set of pillowcases to match. I think she will, and it will look all matchy-matchy, which will be nice. And I'll have an extra pillowcase for when I need two.
I'm thinking of the paint job that Lynn wants to do - which is not a priority until we get her settled in. But once that's done I'm thinking of getting some picture frames - matching or scrounged - and finding art that I like and printing things in up to 8x10 size and having sections of different walls with pictures in similar color palettes. I'm trying to visualize it first...
Well, I didn't manage to get off my butt and into the kitchen to make a smoothie as I thought I would after looking at Herrad's lovely fruit photos today, so I'll think I'll do that first thing tomorrow.
Good Night, TTYL, and Be Well
