Loved the BBQ
I went to the BBQ yesterday, and Lynn came with me. Another couple of sisters drove us, and we figured a simple way (well they did) to do something to the walker that made it MUCH easier to fit into a small trunk!
We brought fruit salad, which Lynn made, and boy was there a lot of good food there! I ate a lot, and could have had more, but restrained.
My sorority sister, where we had the BBQ lives in Buckley, and has a nice house on 40 acres; they have a greenhouse, a lovely vegetable garden, a big lawn that has lots of mole and/or gopher bumps on it, and a nice view of Mt. Rainier, though the mountain was not out for most of yesterday; most of the property is not developed. She took several groups on a little tour around on a little heavy duty open four-seater vehicle. They are building another hangar (I think they own five planes now!), and are going to dig out and expand a pond that is there on the property.
She has blackberries growing all over in the woods, and after Lynn picked some in the easy to reach places, I thought to bring the container along for the ride, and we made several stops, and the five in the back (three were kids!) hopped off a few times where the picking was good and I ended up with maybe two to three quarts.
I think we should freeze enough for a pie, and maybe just eat the rest. That sounds good to me.
Anyway, it was plenty of fun and good fresh air .... and to think I wasn't going to go.
Good Day, TTYL and Be Well
When I was a kid my aunt who lives off Puget Sound told me she would make as many pies as I could pick berries for. YUM, lots of pies made needless to say. My Aunt is an excellent cook and baker.
ReplyDeleteAuuuugggh - berry pies - berries - I am jealous.
Lots of berries around here, yum! Beautiful weather in Seattle.
