My How Time Flies

In 12 hours I will be at my GYNs office getting an annual checkup with all that that entails. Oh happy, oh joy. After, I will go to Trader Joe's for my once a month shopping trip there, and maybe to Great Harvest, too, as it's the 13th and I haven't used any food stamps yet.

Lynn is planning to come for the weekend, and she thought maybe she'd paint my room! I don't think so. Many things need to happen before it's ready for fresh paint. Also, things have to happen upstairs before she can move in. Last time I talked with her she was all fine with a slow moving in process, and yesterday she seemed almost manic in her need to get everything done yesterday! I'm a little confused, but will take it as it comes. I suggested we go through some (many) books that need sorting. And make a trip to Sears to return a purchase and buy some vacuum bags. IMO the upstairs should be her priority, not my bedroom walls!
Enough said about that.

Our heat wave has been broken with a week of cooler temps and even a bit of rain to clean the sky. Weather reports have 80 degree days returning next week, which I will savor, just in the shade. I'll make a smoothie and listen to a book on tape outside. That sounds relaxing to me.

We had our 22nd wedding anniversary on 8/8 and celebrated by going out to dinner (it was late, so our choices were limited); I wanted to go to Denny's for old time's sake, but since we also had to go to the grocery for milk, we decided to go to Shari's. It was the.worst.dining.experience ever! The restaurant was too cold, the food was served cool - DH's vegetables were actually COLD. I thought he was exaggerating so I tried them, and they were! Even his coffee was tepid. I swear I'll never go back there again. Recession be damned, there's no excuse for cutting that many corners.

On the bright side, DH made me a lovely card once he fixed the printer issues he was having. I always love his cards. Did I get him a card? Uhuh, I didn't. I know. Oh well, he's used to it.

What I did do for him lately was buy him a few things from Land's End; I got a few things for myself as well, naturally. A couple Polos for each of us, pants and tees and a sweater for me, and two shirts for him, and a couple pairs of shoes for me. I tried to stay with sale items, but still ran up the Visa card. That on top of the mattress and the lawnmower battery, and our regular $50 a month items, and it adds up quickly. I've paid it down by almost a third, but it's still higher than I'm comfortable with. So I'll have to reign it in.

Which is exactly why I ordered the sweetest jewelry items from my not-quite niece who sells on Etsy. I bought the cutest pair of My Stars earrings and a mini-pearl TP necklace with crystals. I got them, beautifully wrapped, yesterday, and highly recommend her jewelry for the quality of her work. It was around $20, so-o not extravagant, though she does offer some items that cost much more. I put another pair of earrings on reserve for (much) later.

Well, it's 3 AM and I have a movie to watch, so I'll take my leave for now. I'll make some notes and write again soon about all the things I've forgotten to bitch about.

Good night, TTYL and Be Well

  1. I was starting to wonder where you went!

Glad it has cooled off - it is still cooler here than it could be but it is humid as all heck.

  2. Hi Webster,
Hope you have a good day today, a smoothie and an audio book sound like a great idea.

Before I got onto my blog I had a look at today's blog of note, it is called Gigi Cakes.

Saw a recipe for Chai Cake and thought of you, here is the link.

I agree your room-mate should concern herslef with her space, especially since it seems like she is in a hurry to move in. Good luck. Hey got any good books to read in the horror/ vampire theme. I am tired of all the romance and dectective ones I have. I have alot!!! Never have enough to read. Well relax and take er easy. DAR!

  5. Hi Jan, If it's not too hot around her, it's too cold! Today it's 63o and NOT warm enough. Next Wednesday when it's supposed to be in the 90s again, I'll moan that it's too hot!

However, I am forever grateful that it's never unbearably humid - just a little muggy sometimes.

Herrad - that chai cake did sound good. Who knows? maybe I'll get someone to make it. Licia does ship overseas if you want a cute pair of earrings!

    JC - Nah, I'm bitching!

Stuey - I'm not much into the horror genre. Why don't you re-read The Shining by Stephen King, or Interview with a Vampire, the book that started Anne Rice's series? Both of them creeped me out!

Thanks for reading everyone! Hope you're having a great Summer!!

  6. I ate at Shari's once and NEVER again (years ago, no recession)--it was awful. 22 Congrats. Starting to warm up today. My fans are roaring and pointed on ME! But in Seattle, we need the Vit D so how much can we complain? (I'll answer that when it hits 85)
