Radagast 1991-2008 R.I.P.


Radagast
named after the Brown Wizard
in the Lord of the Rings,
died quietly tonight of old age.


He was our galumphing super-friendly
Chocolate Labrador/Chesapeake Bay Retriever.
His heart finally gave out.


Goodbye, Buddy. You were a good dog.
We surely will miss you.

    I am so soory for your loss. I lost by beloved Valor on Novemeber 8th. Mere words are not enough to convey my sympathies.

    Thank you Kimberly. It's good that he's out of pain and discomfort, so that helps ease the pain for me. But I sure miss the old healthy dog he was for so long.

    I tend to love animals more than people--- for real--- so I understand the attachment. Someone will probably have to tranquilize me when my own cat departs someday.

    I adore chocolate labs. Radagast looks like he was a very handsome boy who made you happy..

    I'm so sorry to hear this. Just looking at his face, I can tell that your description was super accurate. He looks like the most "galumphing," friendliest dog on the planet. Labs are among my favorite breeds, they're just so loyal and smart. Maybe one day you'll be up for getting another.

    Thanks Marty and Jen. Radagast was indeed a comfort when I needed a hug! He loved to fetch - but he would not give the ball back. We had to play using the two ball method!

More Snow!

That's my big news for y'all. We had a lovely smattering of snowfall, and it was lovely indeed, mostly because I wasn't going out in it, and because it wasn't sticking to the streets around here. So I just sat here in my swivel glider and watched the birds at the feeder outside the window, and we didn't just have sparrows and chickadees today, we had a lovely pair of Steller's Jays that seemed grateful for the free food. We can't use our kitchen sink, and DH is taking his sweet time fixing it. It got clogged Saturday, not with coffee grounds, but with a sludge of oils from the coffee grounds we've washed down the drain for the last 18 years. First he plunged it; then he took the pipe apart to check out the clog; then he went to L0we's to buy a drain auger (a snake) yesterday; this evening he finally starts working on it and discovers that the hot water hose is leaking, so he just got back from L0we's with a replacement and is mumbling in the kitc...

Today is Day One

Tomorrow I have a cath. change at 11:45, followed by my first Solumedrol infusion at this new clinic, which I believe is in the same building at 1:40. I have a friend who is spending a few days with me who will go with me just so she has something to do. I'm sure it will make it go faster. So that's what's up with me, and now I am actually going to go to bed at 1:15 AM. I mean, I'll start to get ready as soon as I sign off here, but I should be in bed and, hopefully, asleep, by 2 AM. Good Night and all that.

Maybe it's Just One of Those Days

I am feeling rather depressed today. My PT, Shannon, pointed out some truths to me about my "lack of compliance" with my exercise routine. She sees right through me. She's good. And she isn't even a specialist with MS! Still, she certainly hit on my buttons, in a very kindly way, as we discussed the ebbs and flows that is MS. Why am I not doing my home exercises? I don't know. Because I don't believe that they will keep me from getting worse, I guess. In my heart of hearts I feel it is inevitable - getting worse. I have seen it - too much of it - it will happen to me, too. And I guess I feel that there's not anything I can do that will change that. So, I don't bother. I started out with high hopes, and I was getting stronger. . . THEN, I got that damned sinus infection which pretty much put me back where I was. I guess I'm feeling, "What's the point?"
