One good day... leads to a bother,

I just got the reminder from the city to renew Radagast's license. I'm sending it back with a note that he died February 7, 2009. I can't believe I remember the date. I don't even remember the dates my parents died - the months, yes, but not the dates. Is that bad of me? It's not important information, really. I sure don't need it for anything - but still - it kind of feels wrong. Just sayin'.

After two very nice days, our weather has turned grey again. Grey and wet. I woke up to the sound of a heavy rain shower this afternoon (after eight good hours of sleep), and promptly groaned and fell back to sleep - which is why I am awake typing at 5:30 AM.

I have six days to write a tribute to my sorority president, which I am expected to deliver at our Mother's Day Luncheon next Saturday. I was on a roll with a draft, and now the creative writer in me has taken off to hide behind a rock or something. Perhaps I work better under deadline pressure.

Wednesday, I went with a friend to T.J.Maxx to find something to wear to this luncheon, and they had nothing but crap! I don't know what's with the styles this year, but there was nothing I even wanted to try on. So I still have that task to complete, hopefully with DH's help. Also, the trip to T.J. Maxx nearly did me in, using my walker. I got so exhausted! It was ridiculous. One good day, one bad day -

But nooo, it became two bad days. I felt so crummy Thursday I verily slept through my re-scheduled cath change appointment at 1:45. I just could not get up. Friday was much the same, except that I had a headache and a sore throat, too. So maybe I was fighting a little bug that whole time. And now that my sleep is wacked out again, I seem to be feeling a tad bit better.

OH, and how about the ridiculous Channel 5 news coverage of the Swine, er, I mean the H1N1 Flu PANdemic? Oh, the Drama! Maybe I'm belittling the potential for true danger here, but it just doesn't seem quite the time for all this fear-mongering. Closing the schools because ONE kid gets the flu? C'mon. Get real. Wasn't the one death in the U.S. a 23 month old toddler just back from Mexico? I don't know. I think I'll just do this:

Yeah, so far as this flu thing is concerned at this time, that seems like a good thing to do.

Good Night, TTYL and Be Well

  1. Hi Webster,
I'm not sure what to think about the Swine Flu ... I'm sure there really is cause for concern just based on the fact that no one would have built up an immunity to it yet. However, it might just be "another flu." Better safe than sorry, I guess ... and probably a good thing the news has been telling everyone to take precautions.
    Best,
    Marty

  2. I don't think we have natural immunities anymore. We wash everything, use anti-bacterial soaps, hand sanitizer, and boil our laundry! OK, we aren't boiling our laundry, but what happened to the days when a little dirt was good for us?
