A Booklovers Meme
I picked this one up from Marie of Nourish at her other blog, The Shore Bookworm.
She hasn't posted there since April. I guess she's been busy elsewhere.
1. To mark your page you: use a bookmark, bend the page corner, leave the book open face down? I prefer to use a bookmark; I have lots of them laying around. Sometimes I will leave the book open face down for a short break, but I would never, ever bend the page corner. I hate dogeared pages!
2. Do you lend your books? Yes, though more likely I'd give it away - or sell it.
3. You find an interesting passage: you write in your book or NO WRITING IN BOOKS! Unless I'm "studying" the book, as with Oprah's series with Eckhart Tolle on A New Earth, I don't write in my books. It's not a bad idea though, especially now that I can't remember shit.
4. Dust jackets - leave it on or take it off? With any hard cover I plan to keep, I'll remove the dust jacket while I'm reading it - the book, not the dust jacket, that is.
5. Hard cover, paperback, skip it and get the audio book? I read both, and only skip to the audio version if it's a tome.
6. Do you shelve your books by subject, author, or size and color of the book spines? You're joking, right? My house is not a library. I do not follow the Dewey decimal system at home.
7. Buy it or borrow it from the library later? Both. I'm a big fan of the public library system, and due to limited income I don't buy as many books as I used to.
8. Do you put your name on your books - scribble your name in the cover, fancy bookplate, or stamp? I used to be more possessive of the books I bought, then I realized it wasn't necessary - they weren't going anywhere.
9. Most of the books you own are rare and out of print books or recent publications? About 10% are older/out of print and the rest are recent.
10. Page edges - deckled or straight? My preference? Straight. I have some older books with deckled edges and, while pretty, they bug me somehow.
11. How many books do you read at one time? It can be up to three.
12. Be honest, ever tear a page from a book? Absolutely not! I'd even have difficulty doing that from a telephone book! Shiver me timbers!
Oh so glad to see I am not the only one who thinks ripping a page from a book is down right wrong!
ReplyDeleteIt is so fun to see other responses to these questions.
ReplyDeleteNow that I've said that we will have to do a meme on "How Geeky Are You?". lol Or a Facebook quiz.
Hmmm. I haven't posted there since April. When you put it THAT way it sounds like a long time. lol I will get back to it today. As usual in my life, it is a loooong story. :)
