Holiday Decorations

Surprise, I'm back. Something must be wrong with me that I am posting so much. Anyway, just stopped in to say that, in addition to reading your missives, I have been blog hopping and ran across this giveaway. I get an extra chance to win if I let you all know about it, which of course lessens my chances of winning but in the interest of paying it forward and all that, good luck to each of us.

Over at She who Stamps and Scraps, Marjie Kemper is having a giveaway

which looks like a Halloweenish kind of book.  I've entered to win, and thought you might want to as well.

Do any of you decorate for the holidays? It has become so difficult for me these days just to walk to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee that the very idea of decorating tires me out. But it is one of those things that I think aides and husbands would like to do for you. I mean, who wouldn't want $15 an hour to cutout a black cat and stick it on a window for you? As for my DH, I am fortunate, that even in his depressed state he is still creative. Getting him to DO something can be a bit difficult, but what he does, he does very well.

That said, our Halloween decorations have been out since last year. Think about that for a moment. I'll wait   ...
imagine looking up and seeing two lovely mobiles dancing from the ceiling; looking at a vampire skull w/ dagger and garlic hanging on the door across from me - every day for more than a year. Recently the ghoul was put outside on the front door, and a lighted pumpkin was brought down. I will be very happy if he actually puts them away after Halloween this year. Very. Happy.

Just as I was, when last weekend, just before my brother and sister-in-law came for a visit, he took the two Christmas trees (table top size) and put them away. I really don't care if I see them this Christmas season. No. I'll be happy to wait another year - so I will appreciate them when the time comes.
So, do you do anything to make things festive for your holidays?

Good Night, TTYL and Be Well,

  1. Webster I laughed and laughed...

I used to be a nice Martha Stewart type of mommy (and I still have all that STUFF but it's in storage, awaiting a...home?) who did up holidays like Donna Reed.

Now I wait for the holidays to end.

I hope one day to come to some kind of compromise but it won't be this year. TMI? LOL.

  2. I'm glad I could make you laugh so hard. I do see the humor, though my husband kept saying, "call them back; tell them well meet them at Denny's or something." Hell, I wasn't going to let an opportunity to get the rug vacuumed slip away just like that! LOL

You'll get your stuff out of storage - sooner or later.

  3. Hi Webster,
I used to decorate for the holidays a lot more than I do now. And we all know what I am refering to when I say now :(
I still do a little bit because my granddaughter visits a lot and loves to see all grammy's "cool" stuff.
Did you really still have your Halloween and Chrissy stuff all year?! That cracks me up.

    Cheers

  4. We don't do Halloween or Thanksgiving. For which I am giving thanks. Christmas coming up is scaring me quite enough.

  5. Yes Karen - all year long; though Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day and here we are back to Halloween again. And the Christmas trees added a nice juxtaposition to the skeletons, I think.

I think MS has taught me that control is an illusion. I sure can't get those mobiles down.

  7. I have sign that says: Martha Stewart does not live here.

  8. Jan, I don't need a sign - one look at the yard and you know she wouldn't have me as a neighbor, let alone a roommate!

  9. yeah but it lets people know that I am aware of the mess and they do not need to point it out?

  10. LOL, we found an old string of paper bats, bout 3 mini pumpkins, stuck an old skeleton on our door, most we have done in years! Will hang two kid drawings of pumpkins for Nov. It is tough, but partner is up for it and she LOVES holidays.
