On a roll, sorta

Come to see that I actually have a few new readers. This is nice to see. Thank you for following and I hope you will stay around for a season or two.

I was given this award from Herrad yesterday.

Since she is such a great inspiration to me, I am a little chagrined, but I accept this with gratitude and much humility. Thanks Herrad!

It was a bit cooler and spitting today, and I don't think I ever warmed up.

Last night I crocheted a medium weight hat for the craft bazaar that takes place after Thanksgiving. It was the quickest hat to date. Just a little beanie/cloche with a brim in light blue. Do kids wear hats these days? On their way to school, or when outside playing? Or are they just interested in items that come with a label? I don't know. I guess if they don't sell, we can give them to a clothing bank. I mean, they are not the most stylish hats, but they are cute and functional. And they're made with love!

I'm having cravings. I want some of those M&M's with pretzels in them. I know, it doesn't have to do with anything, I just thought I'd share with you.

I hear head noises.  They were like sound effects out at StarWars:   pinnnggg,   phwew, tht tht tht.     I was really weirded out about them, until I realized they were associated with an incipient sinus infection. Once that cleared up, the noises went away. Except for a persistent tinnitus I have in my left ear  that I only hear when I am falling asleep at night.

My reading has dropped off considerably this month. Hopefully I'll get back on track in October.

Oh, I was cut off my Food Stamps because I  "didn't complete an interview" before 9/15. Trouble is, I was never given an appointment for one. So I called them and waited for an hour on hold, and they were supposed to call me back by the end of the day last Friday.  Well, they didn't, but they did call early this afternoon, and I should be getting my letter soon telling me how much I will be receiving for the next year. Why do I always feel like I've dodged a bullet when things like this happen? It's the pits having to be on the receiving end of public assistance. It's really quite frightening when I let myself think about it.  So, I pretty much don't let myself think about it.

Good Night, TTYL and Be Well,

  1. Hi Webster,
I found my way here via Muffie's blog. I have been reading your blog for a while.
    Cheers,

  2. I am so sorry about the stamps problem. I don't know why they make it so hard to do things.

Hasn't the muggy weather just been nuts ?

  3. If you try those M&Ms with pretzels, let me know how they are and I'll enjoy them vicariously. I'm trying to be good and eat healthy -- it's hard! Today, there was an ad on TV for those M&MS, and then I switched over to The Doctors where they were demonstrating a side dish of asparagus. Now I like asparagus, but compared to chocolate -- no way!

    Peace,
    Muff

  4. Hi Karen, Glad to have you reading!

Hi JC, I finally completed my "interview" Tuesday, and she said it would be fine for next month - and good for a year. Whew! They make it difficult because SOME people CHEAT, and that screws it up for all the truly needy folks. GAH.
Haven't been outside much, so the mugginess hasn't really been an issue for me. But, yeh - the weather this year, uh, SUCKS.

Hi Muffie, I'm trying not to eat too much of the junk food, but one of these days I'm gonna get a bag of those M&Ms and I'll share them vicariously with you all.

  6. Hi Laura,
Isn't it strange to be craving something we haven't even tried yet?

  7. Congrats on your award!!!!

Kids in my area were beanies and love them. I see them in every size, shape and color so I'm sure your handy work will end up sold! It's kind of you to take the time to help others. I admire that.

    Have a great weekend. jj

  8. Ted tape, so powerful, yet duct tape is gray...just thinking. Were those pretzel M&Ms good? Cut yourself some slack. WE all must. OK, I try to comment b4 reading the others, in case I thought same thing, sure enough---now I get that you haven't tried those M^Ms yet---drat. (Look at us, you are our test mouse)

  9. Hi Joanna,
Thanks, I've made two more. I need to buy more yarn!

Hi Diane, How about Red duct tape? Seems appropriate under the circumstances. I will be your test mouse as soon as I manage to get to the store. DH doesn't see the value in buying M&Ms, so I guess I will have to do it.
