New month, new post
Hi there everyone (all seven of you!) How are you all doing? Me? Oh, I'm okay. I haven't been doing much of anything. At all. Not crocheting very much, not reading (much) (well, you be the judge), and not sitting outside, much, as it's been either too hot, or too cold.
I need to have my eyeglasses adjusted because Romeo, dear dog that he is (and he is dear), knocked them once too often and now they sit all catty-wompers on my face. It kind of makes the print on the screen go fuzzy.
Oh, and I was murdered in Diane's Mystery of the Blotted out Blogger; I was the first one to be offed. Just my luck.
In the last month I've read, or listened to:
Life of Pi by Yann Martel.
Anything But Typical by Tom Parks
The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Barbara Rosenblatt and Cassandra Morris
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See
Married in Seattle by Lisa Macomber
and Curtains by Tom Jokinen
I'd tell you a little bit about them, but I don't feel like it. Safe to say that I am an eclectic reader.
My mother-in-law has been in the hospital for a week with a bleeding ulcer. It is pretty bad, and made worse by her self (over)medicating with NSAIDs. Now they're just trying to stabilize her and get her so she hopefully can manage by herself. Unfortunately, she has come to rely quite heavily on her son who lives close to her, and he is moving to Las Vegas at the end of the month. Surely this move of his has weighed heavily on her, thus leading to her ulcer. It's not the best of scenarios.
I have no other pithy things to say today. So, then.
Good Night, TTYL and Be Well,

You said a lot for a murdered person! =p
ReplyDeleteDon't know if I'm in the Webster "special seven" but am glad to know that my cat has influenced your reading choices ;)
ReplyDeleteBest to your MIL.
Donna
Sometimes, not doing anything is the best thing to do. I used to feel like I wasn't doing enough if i was doing "something." I have learned to just be and I must say I am enjoying it! I am sorry to hear about your mother-in-law and pray that things get better for her. Take care and have a great holiday weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm here. Haven't been blogging a lot this Summer. You've read a LOT. I am zero on books. With my darn headaches, I'm lucky to see much at all lately. Sorry about your mil.
ReplyDeleteSherry, who said that the dead don't speak? lol
ReplyDeleteDonna, of course you are in the special seven! You're here, aren't you? Never let it be said I can't be influenced.
Tammy, being busy all the time is overrated, isn't it?
JC, I'm sorry about your headaches. I hope they go away (or at least calm down) soon. I especially hope they don't bode something big.
Thanks for your comments everyone. My MIL is doing somewhat better. It's tough getting old.
So you are alive and not "really" murdered LOL
ReplyDeleteyoung pups and glasses hee hee been there done that more than once.
Good that your mother in law is doing better
Jan0$
Sorry you were "offed" -- I'm some kind of forensic dohickey. My character knows more than I do. Thanks for listing some new reads!
ReplyDeletePeace,
Muff
I will not comment on murders or mils, I hopr your family is doing better. Books are the icing on the cake of life, aren't they? (Or is that sex...whatever) Clearly, more than 7 read your adventures. Happy Sept.!!!!!!!!!!!! hyboid
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, "busy"ness is soooo overrated!
ReplyDeleteHey Webster, I loved "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan". It was so beautifully written. You have a wide range of books on your reading list. My summer has been pretty much mindless int he reading category as in the three "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" series (a little to violent for me) and Eat, Pray, Love-- I still don't get what all the buzz is about. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteHope your mother-in-law is on the mend. NSAIDs can be reallllly hard on the stomach. May she have a full and complete recovery.
Happy reading. jj
I came to your blog via Have Myelin's.
ReplyDeleteThis post made me smile, thank you. I am pretending to teach myself to crotchet, when I say pretend, this means I have bought the hooks, the wool, the book and I fall asleep reading the book which is supposed to teach me how, squash my glasses... its all knots and wool right now. My kitten seems very taken with the whole balls of wool situation though and seems to be learning faster than I.
The comments made me laugh aloud, so just stopped by to say, on the other side of the world there is a middle aged woman, laughing. Everyone else is asleep and I can't so instead of sleeping when I should be,I am laughing which a whole lot better than worrying about not sleeping or just plain worrying.
I am not a fan of NSAID's. I hope your MIL feels better soon.
As Tammy has said already learning to just be is an art. I just be a lot..
I keep starting books and not finishing them, I am easily distracted right now, not a current trait I admire in myself.
The last book I finished was one by Anita Shrewe (sp?) which shocked and fascinated me all at the same time.
