First Day of Winter

Yes, I know it's getting lighter now, and I am very happy for that, but I have to remind myself that along with being the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year - and thus the longest night - this is the first day of Winter, and Winter brings with it cold, often wet, weather... and SNOW. I have a love/hate relationship with snow. I love to watch it, but I hate to be out in it anymore. It is one more thing that MS has taken away from me; my inability to move well keeps me from enjoying SNOW! No snow angels for this one anymore - if I got down on the ground to make one, there I'd be - my own three dimensional snow angel. I could flap my arms to make wing impressions, but my angel wouldn't have much of a robe, I'm afraid, as my legs would not cooperate for that.

I look out my window at the sparrows and chickadees eating from the feeder. They are bickering, and also feeding off the ground. Because we have kitties in residence, DH put some thorny rose branches beneath the feeder to make it inhospitable to pouncing cats. Nevertheless, Nishita caught one in the back yard yesterday morning. Mighty little hunter - I hope she does as well at night with the mice that abound in the neighborhood.

Good Night, TTYL, and Be Well

  1. I am starting to get weary of the bitter COLD more than the snow. It seems that the temperatures are more harsh than usual this year.

    Be well.
