I had a pleasant Thanksgiving at my cousin's; the only downside to that is: no leftovers, except for what was left of my jello dish. It was delicious, and simple. I made a raspberry Jello to which I added about 2/3 can of whole berry cranberry sauce and two heaping serving spoons of crushed pineapple, then added some whipped cream when it was partially set. I'm glad to get to snack on that.
I went to bed at nearly 10 AM Friday and got up and dressed almost 12 hours later! I guess it was my down day after a busy one. I've been awake all night, fooling around on the laptop, and it is just dawn outside now. In a little while I'll take a brief nap, then take a shower, and sometime between 11 and Noon I'll pick up a friend from Seattle who is coming to visit for the day, ostensibly to help me do some purging in my bedroom, but I imagine that will only take a short while, and we will visit and perhaps have some wine or something. DH mentioned making dinner! so we'll see. Whatever happens, it will be nice to visit.
DH has agreed to drive her to her parent's house ... whenever she's ready to go, so she won't have to take the bus which was what she was planning to do. Just because she works for Metro doesn't mean she has to ride it ALL the time! Well, there is that not having a car thing, but still. . .
I am very happy that it is almost the first of December, because dog sitting this cute, little, but NOT HOUSE-BROKEN doggie Starr is driving me nuts! She'll go out and walk around and do nothing, then once DH goes into the bedroom she heads off into the bathroom and does her stuff. She has gone outside twice, and has used the litter box twice, getting praised lavishly each time, but the rest have been on the floor or the rug. Grrrrr. I don't get it. She's either stressed (though she doesn't act like it), or is dumb as a box of rocks. That is my vote, because even on several occasions when she came over with Lynn, she 'had accidents'. I just think she has not been trained! Thank goodness she's just a 3# dog! or there'd be hell to pay!
My cats are slowly getting used to her, but they certainly haven't warmed up and gotten what I'd call friendly. They mostly avoid her, but I think a few swipes of a paw have occurred. She respects them and usually gives them their space. It's funny though, because they are more than twice her size and could take her out if they wanted.
Anyway, I should get going and get a few things done.

You are so patient. I doubt I could dog-sit a dog that was going all over my house!
ReplyDeleteI vote for dumb too. =)
Yeah... Dumb with a capital D.
ReplyDeleteOn the upside, countdown to when sitting duty is over is nearly up! She due back on Dec 1st - our time or Ghana time I don't know.
That's one thing I have learned from having MS: Patience. And not to get too worked up over things I can do nothing about. (I guess that's two things.)
Just found your blog and though I don't know what MS is I still feel your pain and understand more that you can ever imagine.
ReplyDeleteHi Webster,
ReplyDeletePoor you having to look after the untrained dog.
Shame the dog is nbot properly looked after and trained by it's owner.
Our dogs have all been house trained right away.

Herrad
