Playing Catch-up

Since the 16th, the day after we went to the Fair, though the weather has been pretty nice I haven't really done much. I've finished listening to the book
Twenty Wishes by Debbie Macomber and I enjoyed it. I had a sorority meeting on the 17th; it being the first meeting after the Summer break, it was a Salad Supper. I did the easy thing - I brought dinner bread from Great Harvest. The written directions I had weren't correct so I ended up making two wrong turns before getting to the right street, and I remembered that the condo clubhouse was at the end of the road (which was not written down), so I got there just fine. Coming home, however, it was dark, and I got turned around; I wasn't lost, just going farther from home instead of closer to it! I don't know what to blame for that -- my eyes (lousy night vision), my MS addled brain, or simple unfamiliarity with the northwest part of town. I'm just glad it wasn't raining. And this reminds me that I have a report to get in by the 30th!

This week is my week for medical appointments. Ladies' stuff, like the dreaded mammogram. I had DH accompany me this time just so he could understand that it is a simple procedure that fuckin' hurts, if only for a minute. Wimmens - make your husbands witness this process at least once. My smart DH had no idea how "precise" they had to be placed, and I watched him when they were screwing the plates tighter, yes even tighter, once more for good measure; you should have seen his eyes!!! My, what big eyes you have DH! LOL This was on Tuesday and took place at the new digital mammogram facility we have in town. It really was a pretty nice place.

After that we went to the pharmacy to get my Vit D. I'm to take 50,000 iu twice a week for a month then have my blood checked again. Depending on where my levels are, we'll adjust accordingly.

THEN, since we were so close and it was such a nice day, I suggested we go for a walk at the Snake Lake Nature Center. It has a legend map at the front of the trails indicating which is accessible, so off we went -- only we read the legend wrong. It WAS confusing! The return half of our loop was nothing close to accessible. There were two parts that were damned near impassible (except on foot). The footrests were getting caught on small stumps and roots, and the front tires gained no traction in the soft soil on the side (the down hill side!) of the trail. Then the slope went up, and what goes up must come down. What started out as a pleasant walk turned into an adventure. But, all's well that ends well, and we heard lots of different birds like you-knows and whats-its, and some same birds like chickadees and finches, and we saw two turtles basking on a fallen tree in the pond. It was a fun way ti spend an hour or so.

On Wednesday, I had an appointment for a culposcopy because of an abnormal pap a few weeks ago. I was told to take 800 mg. ibuprofen, but not having any, I took not one, but two hydrocodone (Vicodin) instead. So since I was getting high as a kite, DH decided I was in no condition to drive, and he was right. I told my gyno what I had done and she said that was a bit of overkill and laughed at me, then noted that I didn't even flinch when she took the samples (clipped off parts of my body). Results should be back next week. I came home and took a nap.

Tomorrow I have my six month visit with my Neuro. and I have no idea what questions I wanted to ask him. So, I'll go for that, and remind him that last March when I took SoluMedrol it worked like a charm, and that I liked the infusion center better that going to the hospital to have it done. (The hospital was full, so this was what was available. They just don't have private rooms, or a TV, or serve you lunch.) But knowing all that, I can bring my own snack, or just go without. Whatever. I think I am doing as well as I was last Spring, which is to say not great, but holding fairly steady.

So, I have nothing scheduled for about three weeks. I have checked out a site called MeetUp, and might join a knitters group. I've wanted to learn how to knit again for awhile now, and they welcome "newbies," so we shall see. You know I will let you know all about it if I go. I figure it will give me something to do with my hands when I'm listening to a recorded book or a podcast of All Things Considered, or Vinyl Cafe. If that's what I end up doing, I'll ask for your streaming suggestions. I'm going to bed early tonight. (It's only 2:30 AM.) P.S. I've proofed twice and can't find that pesky typo. Screw it.

Good Night, TTYL and Be Well

P.S. I have reread this and found the pesky typo which is now in pink, and two others which are also in pink. I also found a number of misplaced commas and minor grammatical errors. C'est la vie.

  4. Thank you for becoming a "Follower"...I am not able to do any of that because I have NOT updated my Blogger thingy---Reason: I will not have the Blog Design I have now, and I am NOT ready to give that up! So....I dearly appreciate you joining into this little stalwert(?) group....And maybe one day I will switch to the NEW Blogger...
In all honesty, I think it stinks that you have to change all sorts of things to get some of these Bells & Whistles. I am finding at this age I do not take well to learning NEW ways on Blogger...It is almost four years that I have been blogging and I see that my learning-curve patience really sucks now, more than it did four years ago! (lol)

I hope all your tests come out really well---and that there is nothing serious you have to deal with---it sounds like you are already dealing with enough serious things!
