Financial Aid Process Sucks
I have a scooter that was given to me at least two years ago. It's sitting in the garage, holding some chair cushions. It's missing its key, and its batteries are dead as can be. I need to apply to the NMSS for help to get new batteries. But when I look at the application for aid with equipment I just feel sick.
It's not that I don't need the help; it isn't even that I don't deserve the help; it's that the help is so damned difficult to get. I worked there for sixteen years, many of them running the equipment loan/assistance program. Believe me, we didn't used to have people jump through all these hoops to get help. Some hoops, yes, but not as many as they have in place today.
Their financial aid application is five pages long! Un-fucking-believable. Well, I don't feel like doing it right now, perhaps I'll get to it much later in the week, because I'll need to amass some specific information first - like my exact income, and which batteries I want, and how much they cost, and I'll need to get a prescription for them too. Hmmm, I wonder if I can have that faxed. So, later-gators.
Good Night, TTYL and Be Well
Hi Webster,
ReplyDeleteBloody hell that sounds like more hoops then needed.
Good luck with doing it and hope you get the new battery soon.
Love,
Herrad
ps here things usually take two months to process.
Sorry to hear the forms are so long ...
ReplyDeleteNothing is ever easy ...
It seems worse when you're tired and feel that you finally need the damned scooter. THEN you have hoops to jump through. I know, I know - I should have been planning ahead. However, I have asked my DH to go out and get some information off the scooter several times, and he still hasn't done it for me. I feel like calling names, but I won't.
ReplyDeleteHerrad, I can only hope that it won't take two months when I finally get the paperwork in - by then summer will be over!
