Tag, I'm it

Directions: Once you have been tagged, you have to write a blog with 21 random things, facts, habits or goals about yourself. At the end, choose 10 people to be tagged. Don't forget to tag them in the note. You can't tag the person who originally tagged you.

1. I went to Catholic school from Grades 1-10, then I talked my folks into letting me go to public high school. I don't know if that was a good thing or no; I think I benefited by having the experiences of both high schools. Catholic school was definitely tougher. When I made the switch, I was at least a year ahead of my classmates.

2. I took private piano lessons the whole time I was in a Catholic school. I was pretty good, too. Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, Bach - oh yeah!

3. I met my husband through a personal ad I placed in the Seattle Weekly; best $25 I ever spent.

4. In the Fall/Winter of 1985-86 I took the massage licensing class at Brian Utting School of Massage and got my license in Feb. 1986. I never used my license.

5. I was born in Fort Lawton Army Hospital in what is now known as Discovery Park.

6. One day in the not too distant future I will get an aide from DSHS. I can't wait, because with her help I will be able to cook some of my favorite things, like chocolate mousse.

7. I'm your quintessential couch potato, and I watch too much TV.

8. I do the daily crossword puzzle in ink. I cannot do the Sunday (NY Times) puzzle. At all.

9. Lately I have been staying awake all night, and sleeping during the day. This last week, I just dozed in my chair when I was tired. I never made it to bed for five days! Crazy, huh?

10. In the summer I live on my patio. I sit outside in the sun and read. Then I get too hot and have to put up the umbrella or put on the cooling vest.

11. I used to do a lot of folk art painting. I can't tell you how many 5' Santas I've painted and given away. I have one upstairs that I haven't finished. I really need to stop being so much of a perfectionist and just do it!

12. I need to lose about 50 pounds, but it's really hard when I can't exercise.

13. When I was fairly newly diagnosed a good friend of mine (who is legally blind) and I took a vacation to San Fransisco. We walked and rolled all around the city, through China town, North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf, the Presidio, even to the top of Nob Hill! We called ourselves "The crippled leading the blind." (She pushed and I navigated.)

14. I like my coffee dark and full-bodied, with cream and sugar. Hubs and I go through about a can (13 oz.) a week. I really like the variety available at Trader Joe's.

15. I like pancakes. I don't have them very often, though.

16. I can't stand beer, but all other forms of alcohol are a go. Or used to be. I don't drink much now that walking has become such a chore. Alas.

17. On January 6, 1980 several friends and I had a party to celebrate the 60's. The house they rented looked right out at the Space Needle which had been decorated like a UFO. We had 60's music going all night long without a break. The neighbors called the police to have us turn down the volume. We dropped acid, smoked some weed, and did Whipits throughout the night. We drank Jack Daniel's Black label, which had a tag around its neck that said "If you have any questions at all (about the distillery) you may ask Ray Rogers at [address]," which we interpreted to mean "If you have any questions at all, about ANYthing, you may ask Ray Rogers." So we put the little photo of Ray on the mantel, and with each shot we raised our glass and "Praised Ray," the all knowing and all seeing Ray. It was 20 degrees that night and we sat on the back porch steps and didn't even notice the cold.

18. I took a bowling class in college. For credit! I know!

19. My degree is college was a B.S. in Speech and Hearing Sciences. If I went to graduate school I would have gone into Audiology. Alas, I totally screwed up on my GRE, so I didn't even bother to apply to grad school. I went on vacation instead.

20. My little Nishita, our outdoor kitty just came in and jumped on my lap. Surprise!.

21. I once rafted down the river from Sunriver lodge OR (near Bend) to my friend's cabin on the river, about 4 hours downstream. We fished along the way, and arrived home with a trout for each of us for dinner.

Okay, that's it for 21 random things about my life. I'm not going to tag ten people, though.

Good Night, TTYL and Be Well

  1. Thanks for participating. You're the only one who did and I hate asking people to do these things, too. I'm so sorry about your sister-in-law. What a horrible thing for your family.

    Hugs,
    Weeble

PS: The bowling thing and the personal ad made me LOL.

  2. No one else? TRAVESTY! (lol)

For you, dear Weeble, I gave myself a $25 limit, so the ad read: Willing to barter. If you will teach me the I-Ching, perhaps I will laugh at your jokes. SWF, 29, seeks intelligent, articulate, enigmatic and open-minded man 25-35.

In the end, he did, I did, and we did.
