Odds and Ends
I've been afflicted with writer's block lately. I will get a post in every now and then so you won't forget about me. Today I took it upon myself to change the looks of things around here and I managed to lose all of the pictures of my followers. All 73 of you - GONE in a flash! And I have NO idea where you went and therefore I have no idea how to find you and put you back. If that wasn't an "Oh Shit!" moment, I don't know what is... other than pouring myself a triple instead of just a drink.
Also, the cute bunnies are cut off. That is not right, and isn't how they looked on the preview. Does anyone know how to add height at the top of the page? It's probably some obscure number in the HTML which is scary territory for me to venture into. But I accept any and all suggestions. Otherwise, this is how things will be through the Easter season and beginning of Spring.
We sprang ahead last night! I can't tell you how pleased I am about that. It hasn't happened yet, but it means warmer days are on their way, and I. Can't, Wait.
I saw a typo in our minutes from our February meeting, regarding a play that several people were going to. It said, "Legally Blind, the musical." For some reason it struck my funny bone, and I laughed, and laughed, and laughed. It felt good to have a belly laugh.
I am more than a little frustrated that no progress has been made in getting my hand controls moved from the Olds to the Mercury. I am not looking forward to driving the tank, but I do enjoy having the option.
I've noticed that I have a bit of a pet peeve at supposedly well-educated people (ahem, newscasters, ahem) who misuse the word decimated incorrectly. Since the evening news is all about promoting a culture of fear, they lead with bad stories from around the country. Not only is it NOT local news, but they sensationalize everything. That's only a part of my pet peeve, though. The word that is so often mis-used is decimate. They talk about something that has been completely destroyed as having been decimated. Well, no. It was not decimated; it was destroyed, obliterated, wiped out, washed away, or burned to ashes. If it were decimated, 90% of it would still be standing, now, wouldn't it?
Now, I'd like 10% of your pay check, please.
I have to go to the library to renew my library card. Have to do this every year, even though nothing has changed. AND NO, I can't do it over the phone. Since I have been using downloadable audio books for the last year and a half (apparently!), I tried to get some more books to listen to, and it refused me! What a PITA, especially in cold weather. Otherwise, I might enjoy going up with the scooter and taking care of it. In my current situation, I have to have someone drive me.
I finally tried again, and found several You Tube videos that helped me to understand how to work with Sachet yarn. I have had this skein for a year, and could not make heads nor tails out of the Red Heart tutorial. Apparently, I was not the only one with this problem. Several nice people made some easy to understand videos, and now I have crocheted myself a new ruffled scarf! Yay for me!
Well, that's it for today, folks. If anybody knows where your pictures are, would you please let me know?
Good Night, TTYL, and Be Well,

Good Night, TTYL, and Be Well,

If you go to 'Layout' you should be able to install/reinstall a followers widget on your blog. Click on a spot marked 'add a gadget' and scroll through the choices until you find the followers one.
ReplyDeleteGood luck. And I can't help at all with your cute bunnies. Sorry.
Strange about the pictures...wish I could help, but I'm about as computer inept as they come.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're still around and love the bunnies!!
I hear ya on the writer's block. Suffering from it myself at the moment.
p.s. HAHA on legally blind.
p.p.s. I could list about 1,000 pet peeves, but I'd never thought of decimated. So, make that 1,001 pet peeves. Thanks!
OK, you know I am not computer savvy and I often marvel that I made a blog at all. My GUESS is to go to dashboard, layout, and well, I just did that on my blog and can't even FIND my followers. I would google it. Haha, I get so mad at word misuse too. But, according to my brighter, college degreed half, *I* do it all the time. So...
ReplyDeleteI love your bunnies. My birthday falls on Easter this year. Kerplunk. The arrogant nit wit chef is gone! Yipee I hope I can renew my book card by computer. Want to try audio books. Have a nice day--sun is peeking out here. BRING IT!
Where are the pictures? If I were to try to help you, it really WOULD be the blond leading the blind! Sorry -- no idea.
ReplyDeleteI cringe on a regular basis when newscasters use the wrong word. I can't help myself - I correct them out loud, and my husband laughs. The other peeve is when they mispronounce words!
Glad you were able to do the crocheting!
Peace, Muff
Hmmm, I think blogger changed the followers gadget to Google+ gadget. We may soon all lose those bright and cheery faces on our blog.

I do not know about the followers except they are a gadget?? maybe?? I hope you get hand controls too. I Enjoy the Spring forward so much too
ReplyDeletePerhaps Karen has hit on the friends widget. I think I read somewhere where the old one was retired for the new google plus one - just something in my head for some reason - does not make it so.
ReplyDeleteBunnies! I have see lots of bunnies as the background.
We are suppose to jump into the 80's this week. So much for spring and a gradual rise in temps that allow acclimating.
