Milestones
Since I have just noticed that I have hit two blog milestones I feel that I must write a post, even though I don't much feel like it. Okay, just kidding about that; I appreciate you all for stopping by, wasting spending your free time with me, and I feel somewhat compelled to make it worth your while. So what milestones? you ask. Well, I have just noticed that there have been 7000 hits to my blog in the past two years. (I know, my expectations are low. Whatever.) AAand, I have finally crossed over the magic number of 50 readers!
Ami, reader #51, and to Lauren #50 and KPF #49, who also have joined recently. Stick around. Occasionally I might entertain you.
SO ..... I made an Amazon order last week. I bought three Zentangle books - Yoga for the Brain, Time to Tangle with Colors, and Zentangle 3. The last one was a gift for a friend who uses a lot of rubber stamps and makes cards. When she saw my Totally Tangled book she seemed intrigued by it, so I got this one for her birthday. Before I gave it to her, I tried to draw many of the tangles in my notebook to add to my collection, though. I think I just missed a few before I ran out of time. I still want to order some decent watercolor pencils, some color Sakura pens, and I need a few more black Sakura pens. Our local Michael's store carries just one size Sakura Micron - and I finally found it in with drafting supplies!
And, just as an aside, but why is it that everything I want to buy at Michael's is at the fucking BACK of the store? I mean really? It feels like a damned day trip to go pick up a pen and a skein of yarn. Just sayin'.
So, here we are at Easter - already. HAPPY EASTER! Whatever it means to you. It doesn't feel like Easter to me. It doesn't even feel much like Spring. Apparently Tacoma just had her first 60 degree day, but sorry, I missed it. I went to bed at 9 AM and didn't get up until 6:30 PM. Don't judge me. We all have our demons. I don't smoke or drink anymore, not that I ever smoked (cigarettes) and I have barely had anything to drink in years, so what if I have no biorhythms anymore? If we have decent weather this Summer, that might be the ticket to get my schedule straightened out. But don't count on it - LOL.
Also I am still crocheting squares for the heirloom afghan. I am up to #10. Go me. This one is using the offset cluster stitch, which is another name for the bubble stitch apparently. I've ripped it out three times, needing to go down one size crochet hook each time to get to the 7" square that is called for. The pattern calls for an H hook, and I'm now down to an F and still just over 7". Go figure. (It just now occurred to me that I should be making a note of what size hook I end up using on each stitch pattern.) Oh well, just 52 squares to go. It will probably take me all Summer, by which time I will be ready to snuggle up under it!
So after the lovely weather that I missed today, we will resume our regular cloudy, cool and showery forecast for at least the next week. Next Saturday my sorority chapter (of ESA) is having a social at Watson's greenhouse. Someone has offered to drive me there, and will be picking me up around 9:30. Send thoughts for a warmer day on the 30th in Tacoma! If it isn't too late I will see if she wants to go with me to T.J. Maxx to find something nice and Springlike and long sleeved to wear at our Mother's Day Luncheon, and at our convention which is coming up in May. So that's what is up with me. How about you?

Grats on the milestones.
ReplyDeleteI dunno why no matter what I want at any store is always in duh back?
It has been cloudy around here. Were rained on yesterday from San Jose past Vacaville on the way home :(
Sun the sun is shinning intermittently through the clouds here this morning! Now I know it still is there!! Hope it keeps peeping through.
Happy Easter.
Jan
I've been to Watson's !!!
ReplyDeletei have on my wish list the yoga for the brain book... i think i'm going to get it on next payday... let me know what you think of it!
ReplyDeletei wish i could do some sort of handiwork such as knitting or crocheting or something... i've just never been able to get into it... i did use to macramé way back in the '70s (while smoking, not cigarettes ha)
the sakrua pens don't last long enough!!! i have got to find an alternative pen/ink... i can't do paint... no good at controlling the brush ugh!
the michael's here carries nothing i want... dang it!
happy easter!
@Jan - If they're going to put the good stuff in the back, at least they could do is provide a cart! Isn't Sacramento Valley supposed to be, for lack of a better word, HOT? It was when my brother lived in Fresno.
ReplyDelete@JC Isn't Watson's nice? I eonder how much stuff I'm going to knock over in my w/c. They do like to cram a lot in there!
Sherri, I commented on your blog about pens. etc. But I learned to crochet on YouTube. Learn to Crochet with Theresa Richardson - she is a great teacher, and you will be making stuff in no time. Simple stuff, like hats and scarves - not sweaters. Oh, she teaches how to do cute little stuffen animals too (for your grandbabies!)
Congrats to the milestone also. I know Spring will come eventually. The picture is beautiful also....
ReplyDeleteGood news on the blog milestone. Here's to many more!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Marty
LOVE your font. I covet your font. It looks like I feel when i write most of my blog posts. Are comments supposed to be about me (the commenter) or just about what the blogger wrote? I never know.
ReplyDeleteI think I throw out what reaches me most. TJ Maxx--I have been hearing this name a lot lately. It must be a wonderful place. Never went there when I drove. I feel like I have been in a coma, as far as "what's OUT THERE" I had toa sk what Trader Joe's was and have only seen TV commercials for "Michael's" No judging. I never liked to shop anyway.
Good for you indeed. I tried to crochet once, 40 years ago or more...not my bag. But you go.
LOL you missed the 60' day. They say 60s all next week. I may go out. Cheers! Oh, CONGRATS on your milestone!
@Kim and Marty, Thanks very much.
ReplyDelete@Diane, You, too, can get the font if you just customize your blog. Also, there's a Trader Joe's on Queen Anne now, at 2nd West and Galer (two blocks or so form where I grew up). Might be worth an outing for the Viewpointe peeps. They have good stuff in there - healthy (and not so) snacks and organic produce, etc. Decent prices on vitamins, etc.
I've been out of touch!
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother crocheted all the time. I mean..all..the...time. Never taught me. I wish I had taken the time to figure it out from her. She was a Master at it.
I have not been tangling lately but I use the Pigma Micron pens. And yes everything is at the back of the store...the very back.
I hope to get back into tangles. I have been feeling sick (and going to the doctor no less) but as soon as I get a diagnosis then maybe I'll feel better.
Love your new layout.
