$70 wasted

This entry is an example of circuitous reasoning. Today was a nice day - I once again spent some time outside on the patio. Here's the patio.
I was in that chair to the right having a banana-strawberry smoothie. Nishita came by meowing for food, jumping on my lap for lovies, then plopping on the table for a belly rub. She's only this friendly when she wants in for a snack. Purnima, too, came by. I think I've been ignoring her lately while I've been busy setting up this Blog while watching the Olympics, thus keeping my lap out of commission. She usually ignores me when she's outdoors, but she jumped on the table today, too, needing to be touched. Animals!

This is the above-ground pond that is behind the table. It's about 14 feet long and table height, though the pond itself is not quite that deep. It is planted with two white waterlilies, and some anacharus, and... I think that's all -- enough greenery to keep it healthy as it doesn't have a pump for circulation, though it does get a partial water exchange a couple times a year.

Yes, there are goldfish in it - feeder goldfish. They are quite prolific. Who knew?

So, you can see that it is a rather pleasant environment during these warm months. Perhaps tomorrow I'll post a few more photos to give you the "bigger picture." It makes my confined existence seem not so bad. What I mean by that is, really, I could have it a lot worse.

Take this year, for instance. Before I show you all the lovely pictures (tomorrow), I have to say, in the interest of full disclosure, that these photos were taken last summer. While things don't look too bad this year, the $70 worth of flowers I bought in May - the ones Hubs insisted I get - the ones Hubs insisted that I select - those plants -- they were never planted.

[insert pregnant pause here]

The planting of those was Hubs' job
as, obviously, I am worthless when it comes to such activity. At this point they are sere in their little 4-packs. So all we have by way of flowers this summer is a fuchsia, a begonia that was wintered over, and a smattering of volunteers and several perennials which are not really on the patio.

My point of this rant is in the title. My reason for such rants is rooted in having MS==> living on SSDI which totals $911 a month keeps me fixated on money, being dependent on people I love keeps me humble, and having a Hubs who is depressed and won't admit it contributes to a suppressed rage. Fred Meyer has a pretty liberal return policy; If only I still had the receipt.

Goodnight, TTYL, and Be well.
