It's been approved!!

After all this time and angst I finally got notice from my insurance company (but not from the sellers) that my Quantum Edge has been approved. Now the sellers got their notice too, but are waiting for hard copy to proceed. My letter came two days ago, so I assume they got theirs then as well. Now they have  to send it to the purchasing department. and from them I will find out how much my copay will be, possibly as much as $5000! Since Obama care has required all uninsured people who cannot afford an insurance policy to go through DSHS, DSHS has cut off certain services they were paying for me. I don't think they are going to pay for my co-pay since I was just billed for the one when I saw my PCP.

I have been using a Jazzy 600 that was given to me by the guy who bought my brother's 1980 truck. It's too big for my house. I have to take one arm off so I can make it through the doors, corners are tight, it's a bit uncomfortable -- but it was FREE! It  also has some souped up batteries on it, so using it outside might be fun. Will wait to see how the Edge compares. Also noticing that I REALLY want the elevating feature on the Edge - but it's an extra $1000 that no insurance will pay for. But it will give me the freedom to fry my own eggs or make my own French Toast. As it is, I feel like I am sitting really low in this chair. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers, as the saying goes.

We didn't know not to keep the scooter batteries on the charger all Winter, and one of them is dead. That sucks; they weren't used that much. Will read up on gel battery maintenance for these new ones.

I am being scurried off to bed against my wishes.

Good Night, TTYL, and Be Well,

  1. I am really happy you got the approval, and frustrated on your behalf at all the hoops you have to jump through. I only know one person who's been helped by obamacare... everyone else I know has been fucked by it.

    1. I doubt that any of this delay has anything to do with Obamacare - just the red tape of insurance companies (especially Medicare) to balk at the big ticket items. Thanks for your good thought for me... I still need them.

    1. Thank you. I hope it will work out for me, too. I'm using this Jazzy 600 that was a gift and it's really too big for the house. Hope the new chair works better.

  3. Yay!! You're getting your chair! You've certainly waited long enough, and jumped through too many hoops! I hope it arrives soon and it's everything you hoped it would be.

    1. Thanks Muffie; it's been nearly a year, not counting the year my PCP put me on hold. I have gone down hill so much in that time. this can only be a Godsend.

  4. I sure hope it fits in your house, I think it is hard to drive when it won't fit like going through doors etc....hope this one does give you more freedom.
