Still Waiting...
They say that patience is a virtue but I am feeling anything but virtuous waiting all these months to get the ducks in a row in order to get my Quantum Edge chair. The latest is that I have to see my PCP again to have her fill out a "face-to-face" series of questions regarding the necessity of my getting the chair. And she's busy out of the office for the next two weeks, so my appointment with her is April 8.
I was hoping to have this baby by the end of January --- but Noooooooo. Still not here. I am trying to concern myself with what color I should get. My first choice was Candy Apple Red, then I moved on to Sapphire blue (purple), then Emerald Green, and lately have been thinking about the bright Orion Yellow. What would work best in our drab Pacific Northwest weather , whether inside or out. I also want to make sure it has the elevating feature (if it's covered, cause I sure can't afford to pay for extras).
This has been the worst year of the nearly 30 that I have had with MS, including the first year when it seemed that my life came screeching to a halt and changed forever. Sure things . . . some things, have gotten better since then, but so many have gotten worse. I will spare you the details, let your mind feel free to wander.
Just for fun :-)
What I can hope for is warmer weather, now that Winter is finally over. Indeed, it's supposed to reach the 60's tomorrow. I can smile about that (as long as it's sunny to go with it).
In the meanwhile, I try to stay occupied doing Zentangle®, reading, watching TV, and getting ready to do some art journaling. I love that I am doing all of this artsy stuff while my eyes are playing ON with me. I try not to worry about that, because worry doesn't help anything. So far the ON settles after a good night's sleep. Let's hope that it stays that way.
So, no Quantum Edge 06 just yet for me. I'm still scooting on my walker (with difficulty), and stuck to the back half of my house. Basically, life sucks. But this too shall end, sooner or later, and I will relay to you (with glee) when it does.
Be well,

Fingers and toes crossed that it ends sooner (much sooner) rather than later.
ReplyDeleteHugs.
Right now I will take all the toe crossing and hugs I can get! Thanks.
DeleteI thought for sure that you'd have that chair by now! After reading the sad saga of your quest, I'm almost afraid to start the process! My scooter was paid in full by moi -- I was working back then. The transport w/c was given to me by my mother's home nurse, and my big chair was given to me by my former secretary. So, I really haven't had to jump through the hoops that you've encountered!
ReplyDeleteBTW -- is that one of your designs? I love it!
Yep, still waiting. apparently Medicare has made it more difficult to get an electric chair, esp if you are physically able to operate a manual one indoors by your self -- which you can't so if I were you I'd start on the process right away!!
DeleteI bought my manual chair and was given a scooter, neither which will work inside my house. So here I am.
No, I didn't do that picture; I just wish that I could do art like that.
Hope you have your chair sooner than you anticipate. FYI - darker colors show dust and dirt less and chairs do get dirty, even inside. Make sure the chair will maneuver okay in your residence - mine is bigger than it had to be, so more difficult to fit places.
ReplyDeleteExcellent point! I'll reconsider color options. Back to green and red, I guess. I had a test ride inside my house, and while it's close, it works everywhere but the bathroom. Figures, right?
ReplyDeleteOh I hope you get it soon! Winter is still here where I live, and I am going a bit shack wacky.
ReplyDeleteKaren, Sorry about your cabin fever. Maybe you could bundle up and get out and build a snowman for me!!
DeleteUnbelievable. Have you considered trying to get one used from Helping Hands in edmonds? I DONATED at least one of mine there, if I get a new one you have first dibs on my current one. I am about ready to get that done, so much to do with the move and all, but the chair is in GOOD shape.
ReplyDeleteGood luck getting the chair, hopefully it will be soon. I still use a regular wheelchair when I have flare ups and right now I am able to walk!! It was beautiful at the jersey shore today, 60 degrees and full sun!!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind being home and I can always keep busy and love the comforts of home!!
Thanks for the comment at muffs place!!
Here's hoping today's appointment goes well and gets you closer to the chair! Did you pick a color yet?
ReplyDeleteI hope by now that you have your new chair....we still have winter hanging around here at Easter! Forever it seems waiting
ReplyDeleteThanks for all of your comments.
ReplyDeleteHere it is, the day after Easter, and I still haven't heard one word. I will be E-mailing Laura (who brought one to the house for me to try) and see what's up.
