So much to do, and so little time to do it

Yeah. I'm a procrastinator. And I've put off something that MUST be done tonight before bed. I have to make a batch of Orchid's Tangy Noodles which should be made at least the night before serving, for the flavors to meld, then adjusted before I leave tomorrow. [note: I finished them at 1 AM] I am leaving at 1 PM tomorrow to go to a sorority BBQ, and this is what I'm taking as my side dish. It'll be worth it, though, as they are a favorite of the hostess who is providing SALMON, which was caught by her husband last week. I love me some Salmon, probably more than she loves my noodles.

Earlier this evening I chose to make chai instead, as the French Press was empty of coffee. So now I am all set for chai,, which will probably disappear sooner that you would think as I made it more like DH likes it - milkier and spicier. I may take some of it with me to the BBQ as well. (At least that assures me of getting some!)

Last weekend I drove to Long Beach to our State Board Meeting (135 +/- miles away). I did get a chance to walk (get pushed) along the boardwalk just past sunset, and the full moon was up and absolutely beautiful. Then we strolled into town and went into Marsh's free museum so I could see the Alligator Man. Once I saw him, I remember having seen him before, probably 12 years or so ago, when a State meeting was held in Long Beach. The area has grown a lot since then, though it still is a small oceanside town.

The one thing I regret is that I couldn't get close enough to the shore to really hear the surf. That's such a relaxing sound, and I was SO looking forward to it. But NOoooo. So close and yet so far, with Plenty of nearby traffic and people walking and talking to mask the sound.

You know, I really hate being unable to fend for myself at times like these. I hate needing to depend "on the kindness of strangers," even though they aren't really strangers. The thing is, most of my sorority sisters aren't so close to me as to know my desires, and many of them are older than me so I wouldn't ask them to push me around in my chair. That requires the strength of a younger body. I was  lucky Mary could do it for me easily.

The Board meeting was a planning meeting for Sorority State meetings for the year. I was there because I am a Chapter President; several Chairmen and the State President are from my Chapter, so it nearly felt like one of our Chapter meetings, except I didn't have to run it. [Coincidentally, the BBQ tomorrow is at the State President's house. How soon we meet again.] The Board meeting was quite well prepared-for, and thus was very productive. Saturday we started at 8:30 AM and went until 9 PM (11 PM for some) - as we had broken into small groups to work on different topics, with breaks for meals and checking into our rooms in the middle of the afternoon. I was happy to get to sleep in the King bed (the room with the handicap bathroom), and fell asleep soon after I managed to squiggle myself up into it.  I should probably E-mail the hotel with the suggestion that they provide small footstools for short people like me to get into their beds.

What is it about hotel beds these days? They are so high, I can barely get into them. It was a good thing I got a leg lift into the Murphy Bed Friday night (and a  really good thing I didn't have to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom!) Seriously. I would have had to finish the night sitting at the table resting my head on my arms.

The last Saturday of July was our annual Yard sale. We made over $1100, which was short of last year's take, but better than expected in today's economy, and with no big items to sell, unless you count the set of nearly new tires someone donated because her car was recently totaled in an accident. No, no one was hurt - just the cars.  The weather was perfect for staying out in a big parking lot all afternoon - high 60s and sunny. I was smart and stayed in the shade most of the day, and naturally I crashed when I got home.

I forgot to take a shower today, so I must get up early enough to allow time for it in the morning. It's after 2 AM now, (I know), so I will be operating on not enough sleep tomorrow, which is predicted to be the warmest day  of the year, at 80 degrees. I think this means I should bring along my cooling vest, too. I am aiming for bed at 3 a.m. with an awake time of 10 a.m.  If I am out of the shower by 11:15, I should be okay. I am being picked up at 1 PM, and I must be ready.

So I must leave you now,
Good Night, TTYL, and Be Well,
