Happy St. Patrick's Day
Hello new readers. I'm glad to have you around. Please feel free to comment and let's get to know one another.
What a week this has been! An earthquake rattled Japan (yes, I realize that technically that happened last week, but it was within the past seven days) and a tsunami came in and took away so much; nuclear reactors are damaged and malfunctioning; Sunday we got to turn the clocks ahead one hour : Yippee more daylight in the evening!!; Monday was Pi day (this must be something important only to math majors, as I've never heard of it until Muffie wrote about it); and Tuesday was the fateful Ides of March that was so worrisome to Hamlet. Can you hear it? "Beware the ides of March..." Doom is looming. Even so, I feel pretty much the same as I always do, for better or worse, and my only concern is that I get to chair the meeting tomorrow, as our president has a lot on her plate this week.
My brother, who lives in Tokyo, has written that he and my nephew are okay. I don't know whether or not he is within the critical 50 miles from the nuclear facility that is in trouble or not, but I don't think he will take undue risk. He is a committed resident of Japan, as three years ago or so he finally bought a house there, and of course he has well established English Conversation classes ongoing which have prided him with a fairly decent standard of living (in addition to his military retirement, of course). As of now, he is going to stick with his plans to come home on vacation in July.
So, unless you are colorblind, you have noticed that I changed the color of my blog from my favorite purple to green. I know I will see things differently than as they are in Blogger edit mode, so if you see something that is out of whack or that needs fixin', don't hesitate to let me know about it (especially of you know how to fix it - heh heh.) Green is the color of Springtime, with new shoots poking up and buds plumping on the tree branches; unless those trees are show-offs and presenting themselves in full bloom. Alas, I haven't seen one of those yet this year, but soon. It will happen soon.
A shout-out to TO HERRAD -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope you have a great celebration this weekend. Sixty is older than dirt ((smile)), but you still have a fertile imagination and wit.
Okay, that's it for now 'cause I forgot what i was about to write, so...
Good Night, TTYL, and Be Well,

Good Night, TTYL, and Be Well,

Yes, it has been a week of happenings and events. Personally I prefer less excitement. I like your green look. It appeals to my old Irish eyes. Happy St. Paddy's day to you.
ReplyDeleteI like your new look. I feel as if I can lie down on a bed of clover and bask in the sun's rays and be renewed.

Hey Webs,
ReplyDeleteLove your new blog colour...green is my fave.
I hope your brother and nephew remain safe.
Hapyy St. Pat's!
Hi Webster -- Happy St. Patrick's Day and thank God your brother is OK!
ReplyDeleteSpring! Green! Yes!
ReplyDeleteThe flowering Plum in our front yard is getting ready to do its thing. I'm ready!
At first I thought I had the wrong blog. LOL The green is not too bad, it only took a minute to adjust my eyes. Happy St Patty Day to you too. I happy to hear that your brother is okay.
ReplyDeleteI felt the earthquake that was 188 miles from me a couple of weeks ago and it was a sensation I do not want to feel again. It was heartbreaking to see what happened and is happening in Japan.
Pretty green. Glad you found out your brother is OK.
ReplyDeleteLot's going on this week in the world.
I wore orange and green (for safety) today.
Happy St Patrick's Day to you too.
Jan
I like the green -- change is good for the soul! Thanks for the shout-out, too. Happy St. Paddty's, a day late! And glad to hear your family is ok in Japan.
ReplyDeletePeace,
Muff
Ok you asked so I will say:
ReplyDeletethe color on the blog roll links is not readable to me not enough difference in the color contrast perhaps or maybe just cause I am using firefox browser?
do I know how to change on blogger - nope
jan
Well, I'm glad you all seem to like the new color, but Jan was right - that green on my blog roll links is the same as my post titles. It was hard to read and I could not change the post title color - go figure. So I changed the post background to peach, but you still couldn't read the links. So I changed the color of the links and Voila, the post title color changed too. So Thanks Jan, your query led me to the solution. And I think I'll keep the peach, too.
ReplyDeleteI like the green, thought I was lost at first lol. Love the font too, maybe I'll play too. Or maybe not.
ReplyDeleteGlad your brother is okay. Too much is going on it seems...?
Well I like it very much! and thanks it is easier to read.
ReplyDeleteWebby, uh, um...I forgot what I wanted to say..
ReplyDeleteWow, it's been a busy March over here. Lots going on, I'm glad your brother is okay in Japan, what a tragedy they are suffering there. And I like your new colors here, they're very energetic!
