Do You Facebook?
Oh dear.
I went to my Facebook account tonight, and imagine my surprise when I see on my home page, or whatever it's called, the icon for this blog (the blue chair) linked to my account (which is in my real name as it is mostly used for family news). I really did not appreciate that, and hope it wasn't noticed by anyone who I wouldn't want to read this. Not that I say much of anything here that is truly secret, but it is nice to write with the illusion of anonymity, you know? It is, after all, why I use a pseudonym. So, for the several of you readers who have actually met me, and know my name - that is why I have deleted my Facebook account tonight. Sheez Louise. I hate how Google has meshed everything together.
Facebook isn't really my thing. I use it mainly to check in on my much younger relatives, two of whom use it daily. My sorority is starting to use it as well - but, uh uh, it's not for me; SO - another time waster out of my life; In a way I feel like I just cleaned the rugs.
In other news, the five pounds I lost have stayed missing. So far, so good, anyway. The weather around here has been real northwesty: cold and wet. Even cooler and wetter than usual, I think, due to it being a La Nina weather pattern this year. The Cascades are getting lots of snow, and they have to close the passes for a lot of avalanche control. I'm so glad I don't have to drive across state.
On the reading front I finished The Widower's Tale by Julia Glass, and The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold, and haven't finished Adam and Eve by Sena Jeter Naslund. I just checked out The Mysterious Benedict Society (juvenile fiction) by Trenton Lee Stewart and Ape House by Sara Gruen who also wrote Water for Elephants which I liked, so thought I'd give her another try.
That's it for me. I haven't been tangling as much as I thought I'd be, but I have started crocheting squares for an afghan; two down and 58.5 to go.
Good Night, TTYL, and Be Well,

Good Night, TTYL, and Be Well,

Hey Webs,
ReplyDeleteI have a facebook account, but I have it so private, no one will ever find me. I don't use it much, but there are a few of my MS friends on there that don't blog.
The weather here is rainy and cold, but there is more snow in the forecast.
Congrats on the lost 5 pounds, I think I found them though!

Yes I Facebook some? Not very much. It is scary how Google, the net and all can fine us :)

I do well to keep up my blog. But I would have privacy concerns about Facebook as well, which is another reason I have never entertained the idea of "doing" it. Lots of my work friends seem to be addicted to it, however.
ReplyDeleteI, too, use FB, in order to keep in touch. I use my real name there, and I "talk" to relatives and friends -- also share photos. Those people don't read my blog, so I have two different personnae. I remember my parents watching a TV show when I was little -- "I Led Three Lives." That's how I am -- just so long as I keep them straight!
ReplyDeletePeace,
Muff
Yeah, I disliked how Facebook was starting to be too integrated into everything in spite of using the tightest settings. And, while I miss keeping in touch with a few, I found that 90% of the time, reconnecting with long lost friends was overrated.
ReplyDeleteI picked up an FB bug and figured it was a sign. So, I deleted my account. Started an anonymous, or so I thought, account months later. Guess my anonymous name wasn't as smart as I thought -- my least favorite person found me -- ha!
Tomorrow will be the last partly sunny days in our parts for a while -- argh. Hope you can stick your head out the window for a bit.
Take care, Donna
I have two Facebook accounts. One using my real name and one using my internet user name.
ReplyDeleteI created my account with my real name having a lot of reservations about doing so. I have connected with a few old high school friends. Nice.
I used different email addresses etc hoping to keep the two accounts separate. I hardly ever log on to kmiyun account.
After reading this I might go delete it before the google bots connect the two accounts - YIKES!
Oh wow, now I have to chk FB, oh yeah, I see what ya mean--that sucks. I never noticed. Hmmm I don't take it all too seriously, maybe I should, but the writer in me will be "out there" and I need to get more material, that I do get off FB daily now. Sigh, again, love/hate relationship.
ReplyDeleteI've had a fb account for quite a while and for the most part I like it because I usually hate gabbing on the phone. Most of my fb friends aren't people I care to actually talk to live or on the phone, but it's nice to have it as a someone tenuous connection to one another.
ReplyDeleteOne MS friend from that web site I'm always bitching about found me on fb and I agreed to friend her. Through her, a bajillion others from that same site found me and sent me friend requests and I'm ignoring every single one of them.
Judging by the fact that none are slamming me and labeling me an antisocial bitch I feel no guilt about ignoring them.
I choose to stay on fb for my non-MS friends and the MSers who are not whiny babies. I don't know if fb-ers find my blog or not [judging by the lack of traffic to my blog I tend to think not] but in all honesty I don't think I care. The whiny people never take their heads out of their asses long enough to ever reach the conclusion that I'm actually talking about *them* anyway.
