April/May/June Books
Sorry for the long delay between posts, but typing is a pain in the ---.
Since our weather has been so crappy, I've only gotten out in the neighborhood once. Turns out that I need new batteries, which hopefully I will be getting next week, thanks to the NMSS and my MS Navigator, Maren.
It will be nice to get our and about once the weather warms up. Meanwhile, between getting caught up on House of Cards and the entire 5th season of Orange is the New Black (the writing on those two shows is so good), and watching the Spring Season wind down on all my regular shows, I've been doing crossword puzzles and reading.
I know I've missed a few, like Britt-Marie was Here was one (I'm not hunting down book jackets at this point, though). So here is my list...

Mr. Monk
Pretty much just like the television series which garnered Tony Shaloub many Emmy's.
The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend
A woman from Sweden arrives in a small Iowa town to visit her pen-pal only to get there on the day of her funeral. What happens after will warm your heart.
The Little World of Don Camillo
Fr. Camillo is a village priest who has issues with the Mayor who is a follower of Lenin then he discusses them with Christ on the cross. 1st book that was published in 1950. Very clever and witty dialogue.
The storied life of A.J. Fikry
Mr. Fikry is a widow who had yet to come to terms with the loss of his wife. One day a baby was left at the door of his bookstore and it was something that he could not return to sender; he adopted the baby and it changed his life.
elsewhere
By the same author, this young adult fiction uses language that will have young readers keeping their copies of Webster's handy. A clever view of the afterlife.
Don Camillo Meets the Flower Children
As I am not quite done with elsewhere I haven't started this one yet.
Good Night, TTYL, and Be Well,

I loved the Don Camillo series. Thanks for the reminder. A reread is on the agenda...
ReplyDeleteI assume you will add it to a verrry long list of TBRs.
ReplyDeleteI am glad the NMSS helps us out with pricey batteries etc. I wish I liked to read like you....I do play Words with friends too much
