Another Christmas Come and Gone
And I say, "Good riddance."
It wasn't so bad after all. My brother bought the ham and the rolls, which he brought over a couple of days earlier. DH didn't finish cleaning/ decorating until the wee hours of the morning, and he didn't put the Christmas table cloth on before he quit. Then he didn't actually fall asleep until about 11:00 AM. So it was surprising that he awoke with a start at a quarter to five on Christmas day with so much left to do. After all, he put me to bed around 6:30 AM, and I didn't fall asleep right away, and heard him puttering.
Turns out that G and her son didn't make it either. She said today that she fell fast asleep and slept all day. She needed it after five weeks with no days off. Today she told me her next day off won't be until March! I figure she'll be near useless come Groundhog Day.
My other brother came over for a visit just after he woke up. He stayed for a cup of coffee then got home to his own dinner. Then my other brother arrived to find that dinner was to be a long time coming. Good thing he has the patience of Job. We didn't eat until 11:00 PM. He took his dessert to go, along with a bunch of leftovers. We had planned the dinner for six people, and ended up being only three.
We have leftovers galore. It's good that I don't mind leftovers, but when they are gone, I will say, yet again, "Good riddance!"
Good Night, TTYL, and Be Well,

We had a quiet dinner together. Talked to friends on the phone. No snow. Cut way back. Glad it's over. Never put the ornaments away last year. There they sit still in the box. Whew, don't have to deal with them. Happy New year! Mary
ReplyDeleteI am tired just reading about your Christmas! And wait -- bed at 6:30 AM. Dinner at 11 PM? My bedtime is roughly 8:30 PM, which makes me feel ancient. :)
ReplyDeleteMy insomniac self was up at 4am. I connected with my partner just before midday. A quiet day. And yes, there are still leftovers.
