Busy, stressful day
Today was the day that my Service Group selects it's Woman of the Year. We voted at our meeting last week, and tonight are having a catered dinner and the big reveal. I was supposed to be there at 5:30, but I was late. Between the directions being off by about a mile, and the fact that I have difficulty reading street signs after dark and was unfamiliar with the neighborhood, I was driving around for an extra 30 minutes finding the place. This year we did it a little differently; We decided that we ALL are woman of the year! because each of us chips in to do as much as we can. So we all got a tiara hair comb (very cute), and took a really nice group photo to send in to our National organization. Yes, our Chapter does things a little differently.
True to form, my body clock is turned around about 180 degrees from normal, so I went to bed at 8 AM Sat. and got up at 2:30 PM. I had to get up to dry the load of laundry I had DH do last night so I could show up with something warm to wear that looked good. When the clothes were in the dryer, I checked the phone messages.
It turns out there was one from my brother's house-mate saying that my brother was in the hospital. So, after a few calls, I talked to my brother, who was under observation and not yet in his room; he's been having chest pains all week, and yesterday they got bad enough that he called his doctor from work, and was told to get him self to the emergency room tout suite. (right away, for those of you who don't speak French) He walked back to his car, which was about s
seven blocks away, and it took him a half hour because he had to stop and rest three times due to the pain. He felt a little better after sitting in his truck for awhile, then drove from Bremerton to Tacoma.
They gave him a work-up, and were taking blood, like, every two hours, and gave him an EKG. That test was good, and meant he didn't have a heart attack. So, Saturday morning they did an angiogram, and found a blood clot right next to his heart which was not an ideal location for a stent. So Sunday he goes in for a bypass.
I don't know what time his surgery is, so I need to get a good night's sleep tonight. I'm operating on about five good hours. Sometimes I wonder how I do it. It probably explains why my walking has been so crappy lately. :-( wah wah, poor me. Okay, no time to complain about that right now. I'll try to work up something for later (lol).
That's all I have for you right now, so I'll take my leave.

Good Night, TTYL, and Be Well,

Webster - worrisome about your brother, but excellent that he went and had it checked out. Try and take care of yourself while you deal with his surgery and recovery.
ReplyDeleteI hope your brother is OK. You take care also - K?
ReplyDeleteprayers for your brother... heart stuff is scary... but they've gotten so good at bypass that these days it's about the same as an appendectomy...
ReplyDeletehope you got some good sleep! best wishes and prayers for you all!
Sending good thoughts for your brother, I have my brother on the phone right now, actually. He's the brother I like.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being woman of the year!!
What an incredibly challenging day. I love the 'we are all woman of the year' sentiment. Very true. Tiara hair combs are cute.
ReplyDeleteSo lucky that your brother got to hospital safely. What is it about men that they refuse to take their health seriously? The first time my partner's lung collapsed he lay on the floor gasping for three days, refusing to go to the doctor. I subsequently got it out of him that he thought he was having a heart attack - and didn't want to know.
I hope the bypass goes well for him - and for your worrying from the background.
I hope your brother is Ok...that is incredible that he could walk that far and drive himself to the ER. Tough
