W I D A D - I read and work crosswords (7)

Image
I read. On my Kindle: This was the last of a trilogy  Stay Dead, Play Dead, and Pretty Dead by Anne Frasier. Murder mysteries. I forget what Fairwood was about, but I know that I enjoyed it (lol).  I work  the daily crossword , but not the New York Times puzzle. and as you see here, I have amassed quite the collection I got this book through interlibrary loan. It was recommended by Nancy Pearl on NPR -- Ajax Penumbra 1969. At just 87 pages, it tells a lovely story... part mystery, part quest, and pure delight. This was actually published a year earlier, to wide acclaim. This is Robin Sloan's debut bestselling novel,  Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore. I read the New Yorker, and the Rolling Stone magazines. I am woefully behind, alas. And the daily paper, which I will cancel before month's end.                          ...

W I D A D - around the block (6)

Image
This was from my last walk around the block I go out my back door and past the small pond   and past the best basil I have had the luck to grow  then up the ramp that DH made that goes to the back gate I  go past a house with a great wrap-around porch. It's unfortunate that I have never seen the people who live there sit out and enjoy a dinner alfresco upon it. Then I pass the far end of my alley The next corner has no curb cut I pass another beautiful tree Remember when it was common to have milk delivered?                                                                     ...

W I D A D - color woth pens (5)

Well, Some of the time I color in these: This was my first           And this is my current, along with this one. These two are waiting... because you can only do so many flowers... So let's see a few...                                                 I like this one. This was supposed to be a study in greens, but I decided to add a pop of a few colors to stand out.                                                And this one was all circles.  ...

W I D A D - back grom the msrket (4)

Once at the Bargain Market, I usually buy some Fig bars, maybe some creamer for my coffee, string cheese, and whatever other small snack I can find. A grocery bag can hang from the back of my chair which means I don't have to worry about how heavy it is. On the way back from the Market, this is just leaving the front onto the street going Southbound. Then I cross the street and go down the bike lane. Which is poorly marked much of the way.    I go past June's roses. She told me one day that, after her Mother died she started planting roses (her Mother's favorite flower) and kept adding to her garden every year, until she decided that lilies were her favorite   flower.      I go past some lovely trees. And past Visitation Catholic Church. And a vintage Ford Mustang. And then I reach home which picture I cannot find. Oops, my bad. Exit, Pursued by a bear. The Winter's ...

Sometimes I go out for a walk. I go out my back door and up my ramp. Then I go down our alley, turn left then go down several blocks to the street with the bike lane. On a warm day with not a cloud on the sky (not unheard of in the rainy Pacific Northwest). This day I went to the Grocery Outlet Bargain Market   after returning a few CDs to the library They were having a book sale and I bought a couple of books which I haven't yet read. And that's the last stRoll I took this past Summer; more pics of the return trip next post. Exit. (pursued by a bear)  The Winter's Tale  Act 3, scene iii
